What to Expect

I’m really excited to work with you! Here’s a bit of what to expect
before, during and after our time together.

Before the Session:

We will be in touch regarding location. Feel free to share any images that especially inspire you and tell me what you appreciate about them. Let me know if you need an emphasis on formatting for certain uses (fine portrait art, professional website, Facebook cover photo, Instagram, offset for text, etc..) My default is simply a mix.

During the Session:

You be you! I will direct you on some posing. My main interest is that you feel comfortable, at ease, and that this is a safe and enjoyable experience for you. My hope is that we can have fun together and leave the session feeling good about our time playing in the light.

During Covid-times, I will be conscious to keep at least a 6-foot distance at all times with hand sanitizer at the ready. Depending on our setting, this may impact the lenses I use. Let’s stay healthy!

And finally, here’s the weird part: I sometimes like to begin our time with a moment of blessing. I know that isn’t comfortable for everyone. My favorite response was a client who said, “I am an atheist, but if it helps you take better photos, by all means!” Ha. I just find that a moment for peace and breath is truly the secret sauce. (That said, I can do this in the car on my way to you!!) :) There is never any pressure. <3

What to wear:

Light or medium tones look great, especially if being photographed in a group. Solid colors or light patterns tend to read the best. That said, if your favorite outfit is a bold paisley, be authentic! If you have any props (flowers or hats for example) bring those, as well as any changes of clothes if you have requested a larger package. Bottom line: Your comfort and enjoyment is what’s most important.

Payment:

Payment is due at time of shoot. A check made out to “Betsy Blake” or cash is fine. A CashApp or Venmo transfer can be available too. CashApp ($hellobetsyblake) or Venmo (@BetsyBlake).

After the Session:

I will back-up, curate and edit your images into high resolution portraits that will be made available via an online gallery and print shop. You will then have 30 days to download those images and use however you wish! Turn-around time is generally 2 weeks. I will send you a few advance images, which may also be shared on social media.

I welcome any questions or inspirations.
